Old Town and its Mission Hills neighbor
The City of San Diego’s community plan for Old Town San Diego places the community west of the Mission Hills neighborhood of Uptown and calls Old Town the Birthplace of California and of the City of San Diego. Our Mission Hills location is the SDBody clinic for Old Town, and SDBody’s Mission Hills testosterone page lists Old Town among the neighborhoods the clinic is convenient to.
SDBody does not have an office in Old Town. Visits for Old Town patients happen on Hancock Street in Mission Hills, and the La Jolla clinic is available to anyone who prefers it.
SDBody has been a physician-led hormone and wellness practice since its founding in 2018. A clinician at Mission Hills starts with the patient’s goals, symptoms, history, and other clinical information, and uses that review to decide whether an examination, testing, or a treatment evaluation comes next. More about the practice is on the SDBody homepage.
Care available to Old Town patients at Mission Hills
Everything in this section is offered at Mission Hills unless La Jolla is named. Before any medical treatment starts, a clinician covers candidacy, evidence, risks, and monitoring.
Hormone therapy
Hormone replacement therapy at SDBody spans testosterone, DHEA, thyroid, estrogen, and progesterone care. A clinician may discuss creams, injections, pills, or patches, with the route decided case by case for the hormone and dose. Men and women each have their own overview, at men and women, with one physician evaluation process behind both.
Testosterone replacement therapy
SDBody’s Mission Hills testosterone replacement therapy page is medically reviewed by Dr. Shawn Vedamani, MD. It explains that low testosterone is diagnosed from blood tests, typically more than one draw, weighed alongside symptoms, medical history, and current medications, and that testosterone is generally measured in the morning. Blood is drawn on site in Mission Hills, and the clinic opens at 8 am on weekdays.
There is also a testosterone replacement therapy page for Old Town patients.
Weight loss
Patients exploring medical weight loss start with a clinician’s look at weight and health history, earlier efforts, any medication or health condition that could be influencing weight, and what the patient hopes to achieve. When a medical plan fits, the clinician goes over follow-up and how progress gets tracked.
Peptides, IV and NAD+
Before peptide therapy is on the table, a physician assesses candidacy, the evidence, safety and monitoring. IV and NAD+ therapy happens in the IV suite at Mission Hills, overseen by a provider.
Labs
Patients choose from the Hormone, Core and Advanced panels, with medical staff explaining the differences in the clinic and a clinician confirming or adjusting the panel. See diagnostic labs in Mission Hills.
Cryotherapy and recovery
Mission Hills has a cryotherapy chamber, and it also has an infrared sauna and cold plunge and red light therapy. Anyone looking for hyperbaric oxygen or PEMF therapy will find those at SDBody La Jolla.
Steps in a first appointment
- Talk it through. The intake covers what the patient wants to address and what feels off.
- Choose labs. Staff explain the panel options and the patient picks one.
- Review results. A clinician walks through the numbers in the context of symptoms and history.
- Decide on next steps. If treatment is appropriate, the clinician presents the plan with its alternatives, risks and monitoring.
More on each step is on the how it works page.
