Peptide Therapy in Mission Hills, San Diego

If you have shopped around for peptides in San Diego, you will already have noticed the pattern. Long menus of compound names, stacked packages with brand names attached, and almost nothing telling you which of them are FDA-approved medications and which have never been approved for human treatment at all.

Medically reviewed by Dr. Shawn Vedamani, MD — Co-founder and Medical Director, Hormones and Wellness by SDBody. View credentials.

SDBody, formerly Hormones and Wellness, offers peptide therapy at our Mission Hills clinic, 1747 Hancock St Ste C, minutes from Downtown San Diego and the airport. We open at 8am, and the conversation happens with a clinician.

The Category, Explained Properly

Peptides are short chains of amino acids. Your body produces many of them, and they act as signals influencing appetite, metabolism, tissue repair, and hormone release. That is a genuine and important biological category, and several of the most significant medications of the past decade are peptides.

The problem is that the category is so broad it means very little on its own. Some peptide medications are FDA approved, well studied, and prescribed daily. Others are research compounds with no approval for human treatment. Marketing copy routinely presents both in the same list, which is where patients get into trouble.

What Most San Diego Peptide Pages Will Not Tell You

A number of the compounds advertised around San Diego sit in FDA Category 2 for bulk drug substances used in compounding. That means the FDA reviewed them and identified significant safety risks, and they are not eligible for the interim policy that allows other substances to be compounded. FDA has stated it intends to take regulatory action where compounders use Category 2 substances, including warning letters and product seizure.

So this page publishes no compound menu. At SDBody, a clinician evaluates you, then explains what is being recommended, its regulatory status, and what the evidence supports, before anything is prescribed. If something is not appropriate or not legally available to prescribe, you will hear that, and you will be offered a path that is.

A clinic that hands you a stack list before it has seen your bloodwork is selling, not treating.

Labs Come First, Every Time

Peptide conversations here start with testing, because the answer is frequently somewhere else entirely. Low testosterone, thyroid dysfunction, iron status, sleep debt, and metabolic markers all produce exactly the symptoms that send people looking for peptides.

Our three panels are Hormone, Core, and Advanced, drawn on site at Mission Hills and reviewed by the clinician who will be treating you. See diagnostic labs for detail.

Who Comes to Us About Peptides?

  • Patients focused on body composition who want to know whether a peptide has any real role in their plan
  • Active adults chasing better recovery between training blocks
  • Patients already in hormone care who have heard peptides mentioned and want a straight answer
  • People prescribed something elsewhere who want a second opinion from a physician-led practice
  • Patients working on medical weight loss, where FDA-approved peptide medications are part of the standard toolkit

Your Visit, Step By Step

  1. Intake. Goals, history, current medications and supplements, with real-time talk.
  2. Lab draw. Our medical staff explains the panel options in the clinic.
  3. Consultation. A clinician reads your results against your symptoms and history.
  4. Next steps. If care is appropriate, you get the plan, the alternatives, the risks, and the monitoring explained first.

The full pathway is on our how-it-works page.

Questions Worth Asking Any Peptide Clinic

Take these with you, here or anywhere else in San Diego.

  • Is this compound FDA approved, and if not, what is its regulatory status?
  • Where is it sourced from, and is that pharmacy licensed in California?
  • What bloodwork are you basing this recommendation on?
  • What are the known side effects, and what would make us stop?
  • What is the monitoring schedule, and is follow-up included?
  • What happens if I stop?

A clinic that answers all six without hesitating is a clinic worth using. One that changes the subject is telling you something.

Why SDBody Mission Hills?

  • Physicians in the practice. Co-founders Dr. Shawn Vedamani, MD, Medical Director, and a board-certified anesthesiologist with more than 15 years of clinical experience, and Dr. Alex Roher, MD, also a board-certified anesthesiologist. Brooke Stearns, PA-C, our Lead Medical Provider, works in hormone optimization, weight management, and longevity medicine. See our providers page.
  • We will tell you when the answer is no. That is worth more to you than a longer menu.
  • Everything in one building. Labs, hormone care, cryotherapy, infrared sauna and cold plunge, and red light therapy.
  • Early appointments. Open from 8am, minutes from downtown.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are peptides FDA approved?
Some are. Several FDA-approved medications are peptides, including medications used in weight management. Many compounds marketed as peptide therapy are not approved, and some sit in an FDA category flagged for significant safety risks. Your clinician will tell you which category applies to anything under discussion.
Do I need bloodwork first?
Yes. It regularly changes the recommendation, and it stops you paying for something that was never going to address your symptoms.
Is peptide therapy the same as testosterone therapy?
No. They are different interventions answering different questions. If your labs show low testosterone, that is the first conversation to have. See our hormone care page.
Will you sell me a stack?
No. You get an evaluation and a recommendation. If nothing in the category fits your situation, we will say so plainly.
Is peptide therapy safe?
It depends entirely on the specific compound, its source, the dose, and your health history. That is precisely why this belongs in a physician-led clinic rather than an online store or a gym locker room.
