Del Mar, a separate city north of San Diego

Del Mar is its own city. The City of Del Mar describes itself as a seaside village north of San Diego, incorporated in 1959. Del Mar is not a City of San Diego community plan area, while Pacific Beach, University City, Carmel Valley and Clairemont Mesa are.

The City of San Diego places La Jolla along the western edge of its north coastal region, and our La Jolla location is the SDBody clinic for Del Mar patients. SDBody’s La Jolla testosterone page also mentions Del Mar when describing the clinic’s surroundings.

SDBody does not have an office in Del Mar. Del Mar patients are seen at the La Jolla clinic on Fay Avenue, and they can also choose Mission Hills.

SDBody is physician-led and has run as a hormone and wellness practice since 2018. In La Jolla, each patient’s goals, symptoms, history and wider clinical picture are reviewed by a clinician, who then decides whether an exam, testing or a treatment evaluation makes sense.

Services at SDBody La Jolla for Del Mar patients

Each of these services is available at the La Jolla clinic. For medical care, a clinician talks through candidacy, evidence, risks and monitoring before treatment starts.

Hormone replacement therapy

SDBody’s hormone replacement therapy works across testosterone, DHEA, thyroid, estrogen and progesterone. Delivery can be by cream, injection, pill or patch, chosen case by case for the hormone and dose. The practice publishes separate overviews for men and women and says both begin with the same physician evaluation.

Testosterone replacement therapy

According to the La Jolla testosterone replacement therapy page, which Dr. Shawn Vedamani, MD medically reviewed, confirming low testosterone takes blood testing, usually over more than one draw, interpreted alongside symptoms, medical history and current medications. The page adds that how soon changes are noticed varies by person and by symptom, with the clinician setting expectations at the consultation.

There is also a testosterone replacement therapy page for Del Mar patients.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy and PEMF therapy

The La Jolla clinic has a hyperbaric oxygen chamber, and a clinician checks candidacy, the protocol and monitoring plans before hyperbaric oxygen therapy starts. PEMF therapy is offered in the clinic’s PEMF suite.

Lab panels

Blood is drawn at La Jolla’s blood draw station. Staff explain SDBody’s Hormone, Core and Advanced panels, with the final panel confirmed or adjusted by a clinician. Learn more about diagnostic labs in La Jolla.

Weight loss, peptides and IV and NAD+ therapy

Medical weight loss begins with a clinician’s review of weight and overall health history, prior attempts, medications or conditions linked to weight, and the patient’s goals, and a medical plan, if suitable, comes with an explanation of follow-up and progress tracking. Peptide therapy depends on a physician’s evaluation of candidacy, evidence, safety and monitoring. Infusions for IV and NAD+ therapy take place in the IV Lounge, overseen by a provider.

Weekend wellness

La Jolla opens for wellness services on Saturdays and Sundays. Its wellness options include the infrared sauna and cold plunge and red light therapy. SDBody’s cryotherapy is at Mission Hills.

What to expect at a first visit

The four steps on SDBody’s how it works page apply in La Jolla. Intake is a conversation about goals and symptoms. For the lab draw, patients select a panel with staff explaining the choices. The consultation brings a clinician’s review of results in context, along with options. If care is appropriate, the patient hears the plan, alternatives, risks and monitoring before anything begins.

Providers seeing Del Mar patients

SDBody’s three providers all see patients at La Jolla as well as Mission Hills. Meet the providers.
