UTC, University City and La Jolla

The City of San Diego’s page for University City describes the community as roughly bordered by La Jolla on the west, and as encompassing the University of California, San Diego and the Westfield University Towne Centre shopping center. Because University City has La Jolla along its western edge, our La Jolla location is the SDBody clinic for UTC patients. SDBody’s La Jolla testosterone page also mentions UTC when describing where the clinic sits.

SDBody does not have an office in UTC. Patients from the UTC area are seen at the La Jolla clinic on Fay Avenue, or at Mission Hills if they prefer.

SDBody was founded in 2018 as a physician-led practice focused on hormones and wellness. Clinicians in La Jolla begin with each patient’s goals, symptoms, health history and other clinical details, and use that picture to decide whether an exam, testing or a treatment evaluation should follow.

What UTC patients can book at La Jolla

All of the services here are provided at SDBody La Jolla. Each medical option has candidacy, evidence, risk and monitoring questions that a clinician covers before treatment.

Lab work

Labs are drawn on site in La Jolla. Patients choose between the Hormone, Core and Advanced panels once staff explain them, with a clinician confirming or adjusting the panel. Compare panels using the lab assessment, or read about diagnostic labs in La Jolla.

Testosterone replacement therapy

SDBody’s La Jolla testosterone replacement therapy page is medically reviewed by Dr. Shawn Vedamani, MD. It states that low testosterone is confirmed with blood tests, usually more than one draw, read alongside symptoms, medical history and current medications. If labs come back normal, the page calls that useful information, and the clinician looks at the wider picture and discusses other explanations.

There is also a testosterone replacement therapy page for UTC patients.

Hormone replacement therapy

Testosterone, DHEA, thyroid, estrogen and progesterone care are part of SDBody’s hormone replacement therapy. Options may include creams, injections, pills or patches, chosen case by case for the hormone and dose. Men and women each get a dedicated overview, with the same physician evaluation underneath.

Hyperbaric oxygen and PEMF therapy

SDBody La Jolla has a hyperbaric oxygen chamber and a PEMF suite. Sessions of hyperbaric oxygen therapy follow a clinician’s review of candidacy, protocol and monitoring, and PEMF therapy is booked through the same clinic.

Weight loss, peptides and IV therapy

A medical weight loss consultation looks at the patient’s weight history and overall health, what has been tried before, medications or conditions that can influence weight, and the goals they have set. When a medical plan is suitable, the clinician lays out how progress will be followed. Peptide therapy comes after a physician evaluation of candidacy, evidence, safety and monitoring, and IV and NAD+ therapy is provided under provider oversight.

Recovery

Both SDBody clinics have red light therapy and an infrared sauna and cold plunge, and at La Jolla the wellness services are open on weekends too. Cryotherapy is listed at Mission Hills.

How the first visit works

  1. Intake. Goals and what feels off are discussed first, with time to talk.
  2. Lab draw. The patient picks a panel after staff go through the options.
  3. Consultation. The results are put in context by a clinician, who explains the choices.
  4. Next steps. When care fits, the clinician covers the plan, alternatives, risks and monitoring.

UTC Patient Questions

Does SDBody have an office in UTC?
No. The two SDBody clinics are in La Jolla and Mission Hills, and UTC patients are seen in La Jolla.
Why La Jolla for UTC patients?
The City of San Diego describes University City as roughly bordered by La Jolla on the west, and La Jolla is SDBody's clinic in the city's North Coastal region.
Do I need a referral?
No. UTC patients can schedule with La Jolla directly. A list of current medications and supplements, plus any recent lab work, is useful to bring.
Is hormone therapy a lifelong commitment?
Not by default. It depends on why treatment began, how the patient responds, the risks, personal preference and medical guidance, and the clinician walks through the monitoring plan and how treatment could be adjusted or ended.
Is hormone therapy safe?
Benefits and risks are specific to each patient and treatment. A clinician looks at medical and family history, contraindications and alternatives, and plans monitoring before recommending anything.
