Where Little Italy patients are seen

The City of San Diego counts Little Italy as one of the eight neighborhoods that make up Downtown, and it describes the Uptown planning area, which includes Mission Hills, as sitting just north of Downtown. Our Mission Hills location is the SDBody clinic for Little Italy. SDBody’s own Mission Hills testosterone page also names Little Italy among the neighborhoods the clinic is convenient from.

SDBody does not have an office in Little Italy. Consultations, blood draws, and follow-up appointments for Little Italy patients happen at 1747 Hancock St Ste C, unless a patient chooses the La Jolla clinic instead.

SDBody opened in 2018 as a physician-led hormone and wellness practice and now runs two clinics in San Diego. At Mission Hills, care starts with a clinician looking at goals, symptoms, health history, and other clinical details, and only after that deciding whether an exam, lab work, or a treatment evaluation comes next.

What the Mission Hills clinic offers Little Italy patients

The services below are available on Hancock Street unless a section says otherwise. Medical treatments each carry their own questions about candidacy, evidence, risk, and monitoring, and a clinician covers those first.

Hormone care for men and women

Hormone replacement therapy at SDBody includes testosterone, DHEA, thyroid, estrogen, and progesterone care, with delivery options such as creams, injections, pills, and patches, chosen case by case for the hormone and dose. The practice presents separate pages for men and women and applies the same physician evaluation to both.

Testosterone testing and therapy

The Mission Hills testosterone replacement therapy page, medically reviewed by Dr. Shawn Vedamani, MD, describes low testosterone as a diagnosis confirmed through blood testing, typically across more than one draw, and interpreted with symptoms, history, and medications. That page also makes a practical point for people who work downtown: the clinic opens at 8am, which suits a downtown work schedule and lines up with testing, since testosterone is generally measured in the morning. It flags, too, that testosterone therapy can suppress sperm production, which is worth raising before starting.

There is also a testosterone replacement therapy page for Little Italy patients.

Weight, Peptides, and IV therapy

For medical weight loss, a clinician starts by reviewing weight and health history, earlier attempts, medications or conditions that affect weight, and personal goals, then explains follow-up and progress tracking if a medical plan fits. Peptide therapy begins with a physician evaluation of candidacy, evidence, safety, and monitoring. IV and NAD+ therapy takes place in the clinic’s IV suite under provider oversight.

Lab testing

Little Italy patients have their blood drawn on site at Mission Hills. SDBody offers three panels: Hormone, Core, and Advanced. Staff explain them in the clinic, and a clinician confirms or adjusts the choice before results are read against symptoms and history. Diagnostic labs in Mission Hills have the detail.

Recovery services

Mission Hills also has a cryotherapy chamber and red light therapy, and both SDBody clinics offer an infrared sauna and cold plunge. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy and PEMF therapy sit with the La Jolla clinic.

How a first appointment works

SDBody’s how it works page lays out four steps. It opens with an intake conversation about goals and what feels off. Next comes a lab draw, with the patient choosing a panel after staff explain the options. At the consultation, a clinician reviews results against symptoms and history and talks through choices. If treatment is appropriate, the last step covers the plan, alternatives, risks, and monitoring.

Little Italy Patient Questions

Is there an SDBody office in Little Italy?
No. SDBody operates two clinics, in Mission Hills and La Jolla. Patients from Little Italy come to the Mission Hills clinic on Hancock Street.
Do I need a referral to book?
No referral is required. Patients can book directly with Mission Hills, and it helps to have a medication and supplement list and any recent bloodwork on hand.
What if my lab results come back normal?
That happens, and SDBody treats it as useful information. The clinician looks at the wider picture and discusses other possible explanations.
Will I have to stay on hormone therapy long term?
How long treatment lasts depends on why it started, how a patient responds, the risks involved, personal preferences, and medical guidance. The clinician sets out how treatment will be monitored and what could lead to adjusting or stopping it.
Does insurance cover care at SDBody?
SDBody is a direct-pay practice and does not bill insurance. This allows us to provide personalized care without the limitations or requirements of insurance plans. We accept credit cards, debit cards, HSA, and FSA payments for eligible services. Pricing is discussed upfront, so you’ll know the cost of your care before treatment.
