Point Loma testosterone care at Mission Hills
The City of San Diego’s Peninsula community plan describes a group of distinct residential neighborhoods, among them Liberty Station, La Playa, Loma Portal, Sunset Cliffs and Point Loma Highlands. SDBody does not have an office in Point Loma. The Mission Hills clinic serves men from any of those neighborhoods, and the clinic’s testosterone replacement therapy page counts Point Loma among the areas it is convenient from.
This page adds testosterone detail to the Point Loma hormones and wellness page. SDBody, founded in 2018, is physician-led and has clinics in Mission Hills and La Jolla.
Fertility comes up early
SDBody’s Mission Hills TRT page, medically reviewed by Dr. Shawn Vedamani, MD, is direct about it: testosterone therapy can suppress sperm production. For a man who wants children now or later, that changes the conversation, and for others it may matter little. Either way, SDBody raises it at the consultation, and the clinician goes through the options with the patient before treatment begins.
The same page lists fertility among the questions to put to any testosterone clinic, framed around the individual patient and his plans. A clinic that answers it clearly, before a prescription, is taking the question seriously.
The wider safety review
Fertility is one part of a broader check. Before recommending care, a clinician looks at:
- the patient’s own medical history and his family’s
- anything that could make treatment inadvisable, known as contraindications
- the alternatives to testosterone therapy
- how monitoring would work if treatment goes ahead
SDBody calls testosterone therapy a prescription treatment with real effects and risks, and points out that FDA labeling on testosterone products reflects them. Men on treatment return for rechecks of red blood cell counts, hormone levels and other markers, with a symptom review each time, and the plan can be adjusted or ended on the strength of those results.
Confirming the diagnosis first
None of that starts until low testosterone is actually confirmed. SDBody treats it as a clinical diagnosis, established with blood tests that typically involve more than one draw, and reads the results next to symptoms, history and current medications. The page cites published endocrine practice guidance that treatment should follow consistently low readings along with matching symptoms.
Labs are drawn on site in Mission Hills, with three panels to choose from: Hormone, Core and Advanced. Staff explain the differences, and the Mission Hills diagnostic labs page has more. If the numbers come back normal, the clinician looks for other explanations, an approach SDBody’s page on normal labs and still feeling off lays out. Symptoms such as low energy, reduced drive or slower recovery can have causes that have nothing to do with testosterone. SDBody’s men’s hormone care also includes DHEA, thyroid and Growth Hormone Support, each of which starts with an evaluation.
