Clairemont and SDBody La Jolla
The City of San Diego’s community plan counts Clairemont Mesa among the city’s first post-World War II suburbs, notes that much of its housing dates from the 1950s and 1960s, and places it in Council District 2. La Jolla is in Districts 1 and 2. SDBody does not have an office in Clairemont. The free-standing La Jolla clinic on Fay Ave serves Clairemont men, and the Mission Hills clinic is also an option.
This page is the testosterone companion to the Clairemont hormone and wellness page. Its clinical content comes from the La Jolla testosterone replacement therapy page, which Dr. Shawn Vedamani, MD, medically reviewed. SDBody was founded in 2018 as a physician-led practice.
Questions To Settle Before Starting
Does TRT Need a Prescription?
Yes. SDBody describes testosterone therapy as a prescription treatment that carries real effects and real risks, which FDA labeling for testosterone products reflects. Candidacy, dosing and monitoring all sit with a clinician.
Who is a Candidate?
That is the clinician’s call, and it rests on testing. SDBody treats low testosterone as a clinical diagnosis, confirmed through blood work that usually involves more than one draw and read against symptoms, medical history and current medications. The La Jolla page cites published endocrine practice guidance that therapy should follow consistently low readings along with matching symptoms. Treatment goes forward only when the labs and the symptoms agree.
What If the Symptoms Have Another Cause?
Afternoon fatigue, lower drive, weaker training results, a thicker waist, a short temper and poor sleep can all signal low testosterone, and all can signal something else. When the labs point toward thyroid, sleep, metabolic health or stress, the patient hears that. Normal results are useful information too, a situation the normal labs and still feeling off page covers.
What Are The Risks?
Before treatment, the clinician reviews the risks that apply to the individual, including cardiovascular considerations, fertility and red blood cell count. SDBody’s La Jolla location page adds that, before recommending any hormone care, a clinician looks at personal and family history, contraindications and alternatives.
What Does Staying on It Involve?
Periodic blood work that checks red blood cell counts, hormone levels and other markers, plus a symptom review. Follow-up blood work is built into care at SDBody.
Can It Be Stopped?
Yes. Based on the rechecks and how the patient is doing, the clinician can adjust or stop the plan. On how long hormone treatment lasts, SDBody’s La Jolla location page says it depends on the reason for treatment, the response, the risks, the patient’s preferences and medical guidance.
The four-step first visit
The first visit follows the La Jolla clinic’s four published steps. It opens with an intake conversation about goals and what feels off. The lab draw comes next, then a consultation where a clinician reads the results against symptoms, history and medications, and finally next steps, which only include a treatment plan if therapy is appropriate. Blood is drawn on site, with a choice of Hormone, Core or Advanced panels, and staff explain each one. The La Jolla diagnostic labs page has the details. SDBody’s men’s hormone care also includes DHEA, thyroid and Growth Hormone Support.
